Nemendur geti skilið og notað almennar og einfaldar setningar um daglegt lif til að geta bjargað sér í einföldum aðstæðum. Þeir geti kynnt sig, kynnt aðra og spurt spurninga til baka (t.d. að spyrja hvar einhver býr, um vini einhvers, um eigur fólks o.s.fv.). Nemendurnir geti líka svarað þessum spurningum. Þeir geti tekið þátt í einföldum samræðum ef hinn aðilinn er reiðubúinn að endurtaka eða umorða hluti hægt og hjálpa þeim að koma orðum að því sem þeir eru að reyna að segja.
