RVK Feminist Film Festival in collaboration with Alliance Française í Reykjavík, the Embassy of France in Reykjavík and Institut Français presents a program of 13 short movies by Alice Guy produced between 1898 and 1907. Alice Guy was the first female director of fiction films in the history of cinema. She was indeed the one who suggested to Léon Gaumont to abandon simple animated views and shoot small scripted stories. Guy received acknowledgement which was an exceptional fact in a profession which was once reserved only for men. Until 1907, she reigned over the Gaumont production as a director, artistic director, screenwriter, and working within special effects.
